Engagement Process
How Laurelfield advisory engagements unfold — from scoping briefing through delivery, with typical timelines and client responsibilities.
Overview
Every Laurelfield engagement follows a defined sequence so you know what to expect before signing. Timelines vary by consultation type, but the stages below apply to our flagship Taiwan Market Entry Planning engagement. Shorter engagements (regulatory review, workshops) use subsets of these steps.
Stage 1: Scoping briefing
Duration: 90 minutes, video or in-person at our Taipei office
You provide: Company background, product list, target channels, intended launch timeline, and any prior distributor or legal conversations.
We deliver: Honest fit assessment, preliminary scope outline, and fee estimate within two business days. No obligation to proceed.
Stage 2: Engagement letter
Duration: 3–5 business days after briefing
You provide: Signed engagement letter and 50% deposit.
We deliver: Confirmed scope, advisor assignment, document request list, and kickoff calendar.
Stage 3: Document intake
Duration: Week 1–2
You provide: Product specifications, export documentation, labeling samples, distributor correspondence, prior legal opinions, and financial assumptions for budgeting.
We deliver: Intake confirmation and any immediate clarification questions.
Stage 4: Regulatory mapping
Duration: Week 2–4
You provide: Responses to authority-specific questions, testing certificates if available.
We deliver: Draft permit matrix and preliminary timeline. Flagged gaps discussed in a 60-minute checkpoint call.
Stage 5: Channel and market analysis
Duration: Week 3–5
You provide: Pricing targets, competitive intelligence you already hold, channel preferences.
We deliver: Channel recommendation with economics, competitive positioning notes, and partner screening criteria if applicable.
Stage 6: Workshop review
Duration: Week 6, half-day session
You provide: Leadership team attendance (3–6 participants recommended), decisions on priorities and constraints.
We deliver: Validated assumptions, revised milestones, and alignment on roadmap direction before final writing.
Stage 7: Final delivery
Duration: Week 8–12
You provide: Final comments on draft within agreed review window.
We deliver: Written roadmap, executive summary, optional board presentation. Remaining 50% invoice issued upon delivery.
Client responsibilities
- Assign a single internal point of contact with authority to answer questions within 48 hours
- Provide documents in readable format (PDF, spreadsheet) without unnecessary delay
- Inform us promptly if launch timeline, product list, or channel strategy changes mid-engagement
- Understand that our recommendations are advisory — implementation decisions remain yours
After delivery
Many clients return for annual regulatory updates, additional partner screening, or ad-hoc checkpoint calls. These are scoped separately and do not require repeating the full engagement.
